  • Last month, the University announced that the School of Medicine has been granted candidate status for accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. This is a significant milestone in the accreditation process and reflects the substantial progress the School has made to this point. The University will host a site visit this fall to ensure full compliance with LCME standards, which is the final step in securing preliminary accreditation status.
  • Earlier this semester the $100 million goal to fully fund the Medical Education and Research Building was surpassed less than one year after the School of Medicine was announced. • The full-time MBA program in the Terry College of Business was ranked the No. 1 value globally by the Financial Times for the second year in a row. UGA was also one of five institutions recognized by NAFSA: Association of International Educators for excellence in integrating international education throughout campus.
  • New data released by the Career Center shows that 95% of UGA’s Class of 2024 were employed or continuing their education within six years of graduation. The Class of 2024 is the eighth class out of the past ten to post a career outcomes rate of 95% or higher and, with more than 70% of the class taking positions in Georgia, UGA’s graduates continue to benefit communities across the state.
  • Seventeen UGA students have received Fulbright offers for the 2024-2025 academic year, placing UGA among the top producing institutions for Fulbright U.S. students. This is the third year in a row that UGA has been named a top producer of Fulbright U.S. students.
  • Last month, the University commemorated the fifth anniversary of the naming of the Mary Frances Early College of Education and the 25th anniversary of the Mary Frances Early Lecture series, both of which recognize Ms. Mary Frances Early, UGA’s first African American graduate.
  • In the coming weeks, the University will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the School of Social Work and the 20th anniversary of the College of Public Health.
  • The President thanked the UGA Humanities Council for organizing the third annual UGA Humanities Festival, which began March 11 and will continue through April 2 with a series of lectures, performances, and other events across campus.
  • The President also thanked those who participated in the University’s third annual Active Learning Summit, which took place late last month and showcased the remarkable impact of the campus-wide Active Learning Initiative. To date, over 1,500 UGA instructors have participated in introductory sessions on active learning, while more than 78,000 students have benefited from courses redesigned to incorporate active learning techniques.
  • Dr. Paige Carmichael, University Professor and Meigs Distinguished Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine, will deliver the Commencement address at the graduate ceremonies on May 8 in Stegeman Coliseum.
