View Related Documents Online The University Council Executive Committee met on September 4, 2024, in the Peabody Board Room. A quorum being present, Chair Eric Rubenstein called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

Chair Susan Sanchez of the University Curriculum Committee and Chair Barbara Biesecker of the Committee on Statutes, Bylaws, and Committees were on-hand to present action items. Other guests to the meeting included Dana Bultman, Julia Campbell, Luis Correa-Diaz, Mario Erasmo, Guinevere Grant, Christina Hanawalt, Cecilia Herles, Stuart Ivy, Amy Medlock, Shelley Nuss, Patricia Richards, Harald Scherm, Jennifer Waldeck, and Elizabeth Weeks.

Chair Rubenstein opened the meeting by providing an overview of the duties and role of the Executive Committee in faculty governance and asked that members introduce themselves.
 

1. Minutes: As the first order of business, motions were made by Susan Sanchez that were seconded by Bob Capuozzo to approve the minutes from the February 28, 2024, meeting and the April 3, 2024, meeting. A vote was called, and the minutes were unanimously approved.
2. Action Items:
   1. Proposals from the University Curriculum Committee:
      1. Proposal for a new Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
      2. Proposal to terminate the major in Music Education (M.Ed.). A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
      3. Proposal to offer the existing major in Art Education (M.A.Ed.) online. A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
      4. Proposal to change the name of the major in Agricultural Communication (B.S.A.) to Agricultural and Environmental Science Communication (B.S.A.). A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
      5. Proposal for the following name and course prefix changes in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences.A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.

      7. Proposal for a new Minor in Community Forestry and Arboriculture. A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
      8. Proposal to terminate the Undergraduate Certificate in Plant Health Management. A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
   2. Proposal from the Committee on Statutes, Bylaws, and Committees:
      1. First Reading: Proposed Changes to the University Council Bylaws. A vote was called, and the proposal was unanimously approved to be placed on the September 18, 2024, University Council agenda.
3. Old Business: There was no old business to come before the committee.
4. New Business:
   1. Provost Hu provided a brief update to the Executive Committee on many of the successful achievements at the university as the fall 2024 semester begins.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:51 p.m.
